Who We Are

Located in beautiful Quispamsis, New Brunswick, is a fully equipped veterinary facility staffed with an experienced and professional team. Our facility has state-of-the-art modern diagnostic capabilities, including a full in-house laboratory, digital radiology, and ultrasound. We pride ourselves on compassionate care for patients and clients, and communicating with clients is a top priority for our team. The hospital’s hours of operation will be from 12 pm to 12 am, seven days a week.

Clinical and Technical Duties:

  • Treat each patient and customer with the highest level of compassion & care
  • Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, and client education to enable them to focus on the overall care the patient requires.
  • Perform initial patient evaluation, reporting to the doctor regarding the nature of the visit and client concerns.
  • Obtain and prepare laboratory samples such as blood, urine, fecal and ear cytology, and samples for external laboratory analysis e.g. Histopathology, cytology, and culture and sensitivity.
  • Restrain animals safely, efficiently, and compassionately during examinations and procedures.
  • Venipuncture and placing of intravenous catheters, calculating and initiating drip rates, and administering intravenous medications
  • Prepare and set up for medical, surgical, and diagnostic imagery procedures, utilizing knowledge of proper sterile technique, appropriate positioning, and ensuring equipment is in working order.
  • Monitor anesthesia and recovery of surgery patients and communicate with owners.
  • Accurately prepare and dispense medications as directed by the doctor, ensuring that medications are added to the pet’s record and appropriately charged to the client.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, healthy, and humane environment by sanitizing holding and operating areas, sterilizing and wrapping instruments, verifying shelf life, and following standards and procedures in compliance with applicable legal regulations.
  • Monitor hospitalized pets and administer treatments with compassionate care. Assure animal welfare is addressed, have food and water when appropriate, and monitor for disease and complications.
  • Utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates.
  • Some tasks require extended periods at a keyboard or workstation, standing or walking.
  • Tasks may involve kneeling, crawling, bending, balancing and crouching.
  • Take physical safety precautions for exposure to drugs, anesthesia, and radiation.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
  • Passed the VTNE or soon will be passing the VTNE
  • Two years of direct patient care is preferable
  • May consider an equivalent combination of education, experience, training, and certification
  • Exceptional client communication and education skills
  • Ability to stay focused and perform correct procedures in stressful or emergency situations
  • Flexible about schedule as it will include weekend and holiday shifts
  • Advanced animal handling, restraint, surgical, and medical procedures experience
  • Excellent communication skills, work well with others, a sense of urgency, and a desire for continuous improvement of oneself and other crew members
  • Ability to follow and demonstrate proper and safe digital radiology procedures
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as the job requires lifting, cleaning, and constant motion
  • Comply with WorkSafeNB standards
  • Ability to work around sick or fractious animals, zoonotic diseases, hazardous materials, and cleaning chemicals and anesthetic gas.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $21.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 44 per week
